    Analysis on Influence of Construction Sequence on Deformation of Small and Medium-sized Culverts

    • The deformation of culverts is influenced by various factors, among which construction techniques and construction sequence play key roles. To mitigate the deformation of small and medium-sized culverts and improve the quality and safety of the project, based on the fundamental data of a certain pumping station project, a three-dimensional numerical model was established to simulate two construction schemes: stepwise construction and simultaneous construction. The influence of the construction sequences on the deformation of buildings and foundations was analyzed. It was discovered in the research that when there is a relatively thick weak interlayer in the foundation soil layer, the simultaneous construction of the culvert and the adjacent buildings has a better control over the overall deformation of the foundation, and the resulting uneven settlement is smaller than that caused by the stepwise construction.
